From his childhood, Mr. Perot was a high achiever. He joined the Boy Scouts in his 13-months of youth and earned his Eagle award. As a salesman at IBM, he was elected President of his college class. He left IBM to start his own business with a $1000 investment. Before he got his first contract, he was rejected 77 more times. Despite his humble beginnings, Perot sold a controlling stake in EDS to GM later for $2.4 billion. It’s not bad.
